We contracted with Epic Security to do overnight patrols in Neponsit 7-days a week for the last 3 months of 2022 as a pilot program. It was a tremendous success. Security is currently up and running for 2023 and fully funded through Labor Day. With more of our neighbors participating , we will continue the security patrols through the end of 2023. Again, this service that benefits all neighbors is entirely funded only by the active, dues-paying members of the NPOA. All members however are able to sleep easy knowing that we have a professional uniformed guard on site and in a marked patrol car every night. He keeps an eye on our property and stands ready to assist any member in need. Besides doing regular patrols up and down each block throughout the night, the guard monitors the Citizen App for heightened awareness and quickly responds to all reported emergencies in Neponsit. From shooing away illicit drug users and people engaging in public fornication, to responding to residential burglar alarms and neighbors' calls for help, Epic Security provides Neponsit with an active, guarded presence for all to see. On average, each home in our community is passed 5 times during the overnight hours by our guard in a marked patrol car.
The NPOA plants, waters, trims, cleans and maintains all public green spaces in Neponsit, including: The Rockaway Beach Boulevard Malls, all of the beach entrances from Beach 142nd through Beach 149th streets and the Beach 142nd & 147th Street Malls. We also have our landscaper regularly trim and clean Gwirtzman Triangle Park on Beach Channel Drive because NYC Parks doesn't seem to care to do it. We do all this every year without any help or assistance whatsoever from the City, State or Federal government. Think for a moment how different our neighborhood would look if not for the consistent contributions that only some of our members make each and every year to fund the NPOA. The dedicated members who actively pay their dues keep our neighborhood beautiful for all members to enjoy. Please join in and contribute to the NPOA so that we can continue to keep our neighborhood clean and beautiful for years to come.
We're intent on increasing efficiency and transparency while reducing operating costs. We're also striving to greatly improve the all around membership experience. Members are now able to pay their annual dues directly through this website with either Zelle, Venmo, credit or debit card. Members are also able to go paperless and receive the monthly NPOA bulletin instantaneously through email as well as request assistance, voice concerns or share information by simply sending us a message. Of course every Director is still accessible to chat or answer questions in person or by telephone as well. Traditional methods of dues payment and mailed bulletins also remain available to any members who may not yet be online. Again, we're here to help all of our neighbors in any way we can and make their membership experience smooth and pleasant.
Our meetings are usually held in the evening hours at the West End Temple on the 4th Tuesday of each month. This is an open forum where members receive up-to-date information about current events in our neighborhood. Members are also given the opportunity to address the Board with any questions or concerns they may have. We often invite guest speakers to attend, including local elected officials, as well as representatives from government agencies and private companies that are currently engaged in local capital projects that impact our community.
